Welcome back to Phenom Yachts' “The Build,” our periodic update series where we take you inside our factory to show you the steps necessary to create our semi-custom performance yachts. In today's episode, we're revisiting Hull number 8, which has undergone significant changes since our last update.

Hull number 8 of the Phenom 37 is now complete and ready for delivery to its new owner in South Carolina. This boat has come a long way from just a hull and a stringer to a fully outfitted yacht. It features standard elements such as the Seakeeper 3, the best Marine Sea Chest in the lazarette, and the aft-facing mezzanine seat with a drink cooler and fold-down tackle station. The helm is equipped with triple Captain's chairs that are electronically actuated, heated, and air-conditioned, along with teaser reel storage. The console includes a standard bow thruster and a Mercury joystick that works with the bow thruster. At the bow, there is a Chase Lounge on top of a 330 QT insulated cooler.

The customer chose several optional features for this build, starting with a faux teak toe rail with bow chocks and mid-ship chafe guards to protect against dock rash. They also opted for the Flir system for enhanced visibility during early morning outings, electric teaser reels, and rocket launcher rod holders integrated into the aft hard top legs.

In our custom paint booth, we showcase the faux teak process. One of our skilled craftsmen spends about 10 hours detailing the grains and seams on the toe rail before applying multiple coats of clear finish to achieve a realistic wood look. This attention to detail extends to other parts, such as the helm pod, ensuring a high-quality finish.

Back at the Phenom plant, we examine Hull number 9, which was pulled from the mold during the Miami Boat Show. Inside the lazaret or bilge, known as the Seakeeper pod, we demonstrate how the Seakeeper is integrated into the stringer system for maximum stability. This setup includes glassed-in aluminum plates to secure the Seakeeper at a low point near the center of gravity, minimizing boat rocking.

A notable standard feature is the Vetus Bow Pro 571, integrated through the boat’s stringer system, allowing top-side access even after the deck is installed. This feature works with the joystick, bow thruster, and Mercury engines for precise maneuvering and positioning.

One unique optional feature is the strapless tow eye, which is built into the stringer system inside the boat. This design enhances safety and durability by pulling from the strongest part of the boat.

We also highlight one of our most elaborate customizations to date: the Marlin Tower. The hard top features a larger standing platform with scalloped edges for stability and ease of access to the control station. The mold for this hard top includes yacht-style nonskid, ensuring the final fiberglass part has built-in nonskid surfaces without additional spraying.

In boat building, a plug is a composite replica of a fiberglass part, like the hard top. We build a mold around this plug and then use the mold to create the actual fiberglass part, complete with yacht-style nonskid.
